Cedar Plank Ginger Salmon

The latest trend in cooking fish is baking using a cedar plank on the BBQ. This helps the fish to retain all of its essential nutrients including those extra-healthy omega 3’s that we all know are so good for us. Not only does baking on a cedar plank help the fish to retain its nutrients and thus you get the necessary nutrients, but the BBQ adds a delicious wood fire taste to the fish. You’ll feel like you are eating a top chef’s special at a high class restaurant in New York City, but your version will be way healthier and made in the comfort of your home. You can even light some candles and pull out the fancy dishes to add to the experience. This Cedar Planked BBQ Salmon is by far my favorite recipe. Enjoy!
This recipe takes about 15 minutes prep time and cooks for about 20 minutes. Its easy to make and absolutely delicious! Trust me, if you like fish, you’ll love this recipe.

Cedar Plank Ginger Salmon-

Ingredients:
3 Twelve-inch Untreated Cedar planks
1/3 Cup Organic Canola Oil
1 ½ Tbsp. Rice vinegar
1 tsp. Sesame Oil
1/3 Cup Reduced Sodium soy sauce (We would recommend Nama Shoyu)
¼ Cup Chopped green onions
1 Tbsp. Fresh ginger root, grated finely
1 tsp. Minced garlic
2 Two-pound Salmon fillets, skin removed

Directions:

Planks- First you want to soak the cedar planks for at least one hour (longer is better).

Marinade- Stir together the canola oil, rice vinegar, sesame oil, reduced sodium soy sauce, green onions, ginger, and minced garlic. Place the salmon fillets in the marinade. Flip them over to coat the salmon in the marinade. Allow the fillets to sit in the marinade for at least 15 minutes (max one hour).

Grill- Preheat the BBQ to medium heat. Place the previously soaked planks on the grate. Once the boards start to smoke and crackle, you’re ready to put the salmon on the grill.

Cook- Place the salmon fillets on the planks. Cover the grill and allow the fish to cook for about 20 minutes. The fillets will be done cooking when you can flake the fish with a fork. Remember, the salmon will continue cooking even after you remove it from the grill.
